Mampara of the week: Mduduzi Manana

ANC tolerates this thug and liar
A week may be a long time in politics, but it's not long enough for a mampara like Mduduzi Manana to do the right thing and resign.
Last Sunday Manana's domestic worker opened a case of intimidation and assault against him. Christine Wiro said the ANC MP - convicted of assault last year for attacking three women - pushed her down the stairs at his Johannesburg home.
He denied it, accusing Wiro of trying to solicit a R100,000 bribe to drop the case. Then a recording emerged in which Manana begged Wiro to take a "consolation" in return for her silence.
Manana is a thug and a liar as well as a mampara. But he's still national executive committee and National Assembly material, if the ANC's silence is anything to go by. The "new dawn" is beginning to look more like a sunset...
