7de Laan star on wrong road
Actor Sekoati Tsubane found himself behind bars in Cape Town at the weekend.
The former 7de Laan star was arrested by city police on Friday at 11pm on an allegation of drunken driving in Melkbosstrand.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Daphne Dell said Tsubane was released on bail of R500 on Saturday morning and was fined R500 for ignoring a three-way-stop sign.
"He will appear in court on September 28. This is due to waiting for the results of the blood-alcohol test," said Dell.
His agent, who did not want to be named, would not comment.
Tsubane left the soapie in August. He is now working freelance and appeared in the Castle Lite beer advertisement with rappers Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer.
It is not the first time the dreadlocked celebrity has hogged the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
Last year his ex-girlfriend, a granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, Zoleka Mandela, dumped him after coming clean about their drug habits. She told Sunday World he moved in with her and they abused crack and cocaine.
Tragedy struck in June when their son, who was born three months premature, died.
Mandela said after she quit her drug habit that she went to rehab and gave Tsubane an ultimatum.
"I told [him] he should also go to rehab or I'd end the relationship, but he ignored me so I kicked him out," she was quoted as saying in October.
Tsubane has denied using drugs.
