Congratulations are in order for soccer stars Itumeleng “Itu” Khune and Linda Mntambo after they recently graduated from the Player Transition Programme at Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in Johannesburg.

While we've seen some soccer's stars fall by the wayside or die broke after their football careers came to an end, these two graduates are certainly not set to be part of that statistic.

The PSL Player Transition Programme focuses on current PSL players aged between 28 and 35 years and aims to equip and empower them with the necessary knowledge and skills to transition into a role in sport after they retire.

Itu and Linda were beaming with pride when they took to social media to share images of themselves receiving their certificates and wearing their gowns on Monday.

“This is a reminder to stop and just enjoy the moment,” Itu captioned his post.

The soccer star's wife, Sphelele, lauded him on his achievement.

“Congratulations my hubby bear ... You already know that the little bears and I are very proud of you and we are wishing you many more. A house of graduates.”

Itu thanked her for the love and support she gave to him throughout the programme.

“Wifey Ke lebogela lerato le support ongfile yona ... you’ve been there for me since this programme started till it ended and I appreciate that about you , now we [are] here my pillar of strength.”

Linda shared images of his speech when he received his certificate, recalling the challenges he faced along the way and the skills he acquired to help him further his career.

“The programme has enabled us to acquire skill and knowledge that will help us now in our lives and as we transition to life after football.

“We had challenges but we were resilient enough to not give up. we showed commitment, discipline, dedication and most importantly consistency , which is what got us to the finish line,” Itu said.

The PSL shared an image of all the graduates from the 2022 programme congratulating them for completing it.
