Since moving to the US and making her debut in the Hollywood blockbuster film The Woman King, Thuso Mbedu has had an eventful year filled with hard work.

Here are some of the highlights for the actress this year.

After bagging the Independent Spirit Award for her role as Cora in in March, Thuso received another nod at this year's International Women of Power Awards.

The press run for The Woman King saw Thuso rub shoulders with renowned actors Viola Davis, Quinta Brunson, Kerry Washington and other Hollywood stars while attending red carpet events and doing interviews on  The Daily Show, The View and The Breakfast Club.

“There aren’t any words. To be seated among some of the greatest talents of this generation. It makes me excited to see what tomorrow has in store for everyone,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I believe in my purpose and I'm grateful it has led me to be in this space, constantly learning and growing. Getting to see first hand with Viola I realise it is important to have someone to represent us physically in this matter.”

Aside from gracing local magazine covers, including GQ South Africa and Women's Health Magazine, the actress has been featured on covers beyond the borders of Mzansi as an individual and with her international co-stars.
