Five months after venturing into the music industry as a DJ, Tumi Motsoeneng, popularly known as Gogo Skhotheni, has released her debut single Ndiyakwmkela.

She's dedicated the song to her newfound walk with God after going through the darkest period of her life with her family and spiritual life.

“This song does not only dedicate you to God, it also speaks about relationships, as I was facing a lot in relationships. I chose to accept God more than anything,” she told TshisaLIVE.

The popular sangoma said when she had given clients “evil muti” such as isichitho  she was tapping into dark magic which she has since had to repent for.

“This journey of ubungoma, you end up doing witchcraft and other things ... so I think it's one of the darkest journeys I've been on as a healer myself. I had to differentiate between being a healer and being a witch — being a healer is what I chose and it goes along with God. I am a sangoma who believes in God and puts God in everything I do. I love God and he loves me too.”

Her journey hasn't been easy, she admits, as she and her family have faced many obstacles.

Her son has been in an intensive care unit for a year and eight months. And in early January Gogo Skhotheni revealed she and her husband Monde had been separated for six months.

Since giving her life to God, she said, she has seen his hand on their lives.

“I've been on a very dark journey with myself, questioning a lot of things that were happening, especially with my son's condition, my son being sick. My relationship with my husband was tempted a lot. We nearly filed for divorce but God carried us through it. It hasn’t been easy.

“I've given my life to God before but obviously as a child of God there are certain things which I shouldn't have done, but I did. So I eventually had to rebuild my relationship with God because I saw his mercy upon my life. I'm not going to stop being a healer.”
