Mpumalanga 216km/h speedster arrested

A driver was arrested for driving 216km/h on N4 near Witbank on Saturday, the Mpumalanga community safety, security and liaison department said.

The speedster was believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol, the department said in a statement.

He would appear in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Community Safety MEC Vusi Shongwe welcomed the arrest.

He said arresting reckless drivers would assist government in its effort to reduce accidents.
