Man found dead in second highway shooting in Johannesburg

A man was found dead on the M2 East on Wednesday in the second highway shooting to occur in Johannesburg this week.

“Police were notified of an incident where a man was dying on the side of the road. He was found sitting alone with a bullet wound on his upper body and he was motionless‚” Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said.

The 50-year-old man was found alone and lifeless in a delivery van. Masondo said the motive for the killing was unknown and no arrest had been made.

He said the police could not figure out why the man had stopped on the side of the road in what appeared to be a work vehicle.

In the first incident‚ a man died after being shot eight times near the Glenhove offramp on the M1 North highway just after 5pm on Wednesday.
