WHAT: Easter Egg Hunt at Benguela Cove

WHERE: Benguela Cove Wine Estate, Hermanus

WHEN: April 1-10, 10am-5pm

Treat the kids to a fun day at Benguela Cove’s adventure park with an Easter egg hunt. They’ll have to follow a trail map to find out about the animals that live there, and unlock a secret code.

WHAT: A Hopping Easter with the South African Lipizzaners

WHERE: Mistico Equestrian Centre, Paarl Farms, Cape Town

WHEN: April 2, 11.30am

For some Easter fun for horse lovers, treat the family to an equestrian show at the South African Lipizzaner Centre.

WHAT: Splashy Fen

WHERE: Splashy Fen farm, Underberg, KwaZulu-Natal

WHEN: April 6-10

South Africa’s longest running festival also has the reputation as being the friendliest . Join the fun this Easter weekend as the festivities promises to celebrate “life, art, music, people, love, laughter, fun and enjoyment” at its world heritage site venue in Underberg.

WHAT: The Rand Show 

WHERE: Nasrec Exhibition Centre, Johannesburg

WHEN: April 6-10, 9am-7pm

A staple on the Easter calendar is the Rand Show with a range of local exhibitors, outdoor activities, carnival rides, an entertainment stage and fun games.

Tickets cost R95 for adults and R60 for pensioners and children. Family packages for two adults and two children cost R295 and are only available online through the Rand Show website.

WHAT: Lady Grey Passion Play

WHERE: Lady Grey, northern Eastern Cape

WHEN: April 7-9, different show times

This year the Lady Grey Passion Play celebrates its 20th anniversary. Scenes from Christ’s birth, life, suffering, death, resurrection and ascension are acted out over five scenes staring on Good Friday and ending on Easter Sunday.

Join the Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra for one of the most presented oratorios since Handel composed it 282 years ago.

WHERE: Fig Tree Farm, Durban
