RECIPE: Rooster brood burgers

Juicy braaied burgers with a South African twist

Makes: 6 burgers
Ingredients:
500g beef mince
1 onion, very finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
10ml (2 tsp) beef stock powder
A large handful of raw oats
15ml (1 tbsp) Worcestershire sauce
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
6 cubes mozzarella cheese
6 rooster brood (or use 6 burger rolls)
Method:
1. Mix the mince, onion, garlic, beef stock, oats, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning together.
2. Shape patties around cheese cubes, by placing the cheese in the middle and wrapping the meat around it to cover the cheese.
3. Cook over medium hot coals, turning frequently, until done to your liking.
4. Place burgers on split rooster brood and top with lettuce, tomato, onion and sauce of your choice.
