Since its inception a few years back, The Linden Market has grown in leaps and bounds. From moving to a bigger venue (and then again to another, even larger one!) to expanding their stalls, adding new features, and welcoming more entertainment, this vibey suburb’s quarterly market is more exciting than ever.

This December they’re reaching new heights by running the market over two days (December 1 to 2) in the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens for the first time ever.

At its core, The Linden Market has always been about championing local vendors and swapping malls for markets, and despite their growing success, The Linden Market team have managed to keep this drive at the forefront of their planning.

For their deluxe Christmas edition this year, there will be 160 stalls selling everything from decor and design, to jewellery, fashion, furniture, artisanal spirits, plants, and deli food, all accompanied by a delicious array of food trucks, craft beer, bubbly, and an incredible gin bar.

Most importantly, though, is that each and every stall will be proudly local, and choosing to do your Christmas shopping here has a direct impact on the community surrounding it.

This December, the two-day affair will be about more than just shopping for that perfect Christmas gift, with an extended offering of entertainment and opportunities to give back, making for a fun-filled day out. As always, the market will begin with a “Yoga in the Park” session by Yoga Works at 9am on both days.

The market itself has once again invited the team from Claw to bring some of their homeless pups along as part of their adopt-a-dog initiative. If you’re looking to add a furry friend to your family this festive season, the market is the perfect place to do it – you can take it around for a walk to get to know each other, and potentially find your new best friend.

Open to families of all shapes and sizes, it’s no surprise that this market has become one of South Africa’s most loved and successful. Bring your kids and your dogs, and start getting into the Christmas spirit!
