Situated on Cape Town's foreshore and just a few steps away from the city's leading conference facilities is The Onyx, a slick-looking and innovative new property. We had the opportunity to see what the fuss was all about during a visit to the recent Design Indaba conference.
The Onyx hotel sets itself apart by offering self-catering apartments that consist of a kitchenette, complete with state-of-the-art appliances, plus a comfortable lounge and dining area overlooking the city. Its interiors are warm and luxurious without being over the top and the herring-bone floors - solid wood under your bare feet - immediately makes you feel at home.
The building hosts a delicatessen and restaurant where residents can buy freshly baked breads and deli products - allowing them the luxury of preparing food in the privacy of their own apartment. Goodbye to unpredictable room-service food!
Another perk within this clever mixed-use space is the fourth-floor lounge and bar overlooking the city, with top-class gym facilities, a spa and an indoor-outdoor swimming pool with some of the best views of Table Mountain...
