A deputy principal is in hot water after allegedly sending saucy WhatsApp messages to a pupil.
Pretoria Technical High School's Johan de la Rouviere sent messages to a Grade 11 pupil between July 4 and August 18, calling her "princess" and "sexy lady".
The Gauteng department of education confirmed this week that a complaint had been referred to its dispute management unit for investigation.
Among messages sent to the 17-year-old girl which the Sunday Times has seen were:
"You are wonderfully and beautifully made by God; your smile makes flowers blush sometimes??";
"Wanted to hug you so dearly today????";
"Wish I could braai for you now????";
"Mmmmm I think you would look awesome in shorts???"; and
"I remember the pic that you took with the flowers in the long socks damm lady just awesome."
When the pupil tells De la Rouviere in a WhatsApp conversation that she is wearing shorts, he begs her to send him a picture. "May I please see how you look in the shorts. Ahhhh would like to see please pretty please. If by chance you feel like sending a pic I would be happy??"
During another conversation the girl asks him whether a woodwork test would include the section on "ledged and braced batten door". He replies in the affirmative and adds: "Theory on all doors."
After one complimentary message from him, she responds: "I'm flattered."
She does not appear to rebuke him for his comments, and most of her answers are short, like"Hello", "Not at all", "Goodnight", "Thanks", "Goodnight" and "God Bless"...
