Rouge says she wants to see Mzansi appreciate its local artists more instead of waiting for them to receive international attention before acknowledging their talent.

This after Nasty C received praise when multi-award winning American singer Chris Brown recently shared the rapper's freestyle from On The Radar With Gabe P on his Instagram stories.

Rouge said she was appalled by people not giving artists their credit when it is due.

“SA must stop giving flowers late. People waiting for Chris Brown to repost Nasty C's freestyle. It’s been out and been fire and they only gas it after someone from the States does? SMH (shakes my head). Guy has been a beast,” she wrote.

Nasty C has taken many strides locally and internationally in his career.

After signing an exclusive deal with Def Jam Recordings via a joint venture with Universal Music Africa, the 25-year-old has been making an impact beyond the borders of Mzansi, working with American rappers Domani and his father T.I, among others.

Last November, the rapper made history as Mzansi's first hip-hop star to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Düsseldorf, Germany.

In an interview on Shade 45, Nasty C revealed his plans to build, explaining that while he wanted to do music with his childhood role models, he wanted to work with upcoming artists as well.

“The best and most organic way to do it is to do collaborations with up-and-coming. With a younger audience it works a bit better and in a more natural way,” he said.

“I'm trying to get the music to live out here and do a bunch of free verses. It doesn't matter if you started doing music four months ago, it will spread.”
