WATCH | They saved thousands... then their toddler put the cash through a shredder

An American couple were left stunned when their two-year-old son put around a thousand dollars of their savings through a shredder.

Ben and Jackee Belnap, of Utah say they laughed and cried when they found out.

The Washington Post quotes them as saying a US government department can replace the money in a process that can take anywhere from six months to three years.
