"There's no one as interesting in the world as me - YES/NO/MAYBE." I'd peg you as having some sinister self-loathing if you didn't circle "yes" - but then what do I know of the workings of the human mind?

Equip Assessment and Development Services are much more adept at understand your answers - because they run pyschometric testing for recruitment purposes.

So I decided to become a guinea pig, and went through the FIRO-B test, which was intended to shed light on my interpersonal behaviour. There seemed to be four or five questions phrased in a multitude of ways - hadn't they heard me the first time?

The second test was to determine social confidence, perseverance, drive and results focus. Then came a non-verbal reasoning assessment that involved finding patterns in the six different boxes of shapes on each page.

The last test, the Wheel, was aimed at identifying how I rated things according to their effect and importance in my life.

The results were startling in their accuracy. I was told things I know about myself, but that I probably wouldn't think to tell someone who might want to hire me.

A few of the less incendiary traits included that I am self-driven, give myself over-ambitious deadlines and tend to take on more than I should. There was a lot more, but I'm keeping that for when I want a promotion.
