10 things that'll happen before we get the next 'Game of Thrones' book

16 July 2017 - 00:00 By Yolisa Mkele

Winter is here. What isn't is author George RR Martin's latest book in the Song of Ice and Fire series.
It will be six years since the last book and the Game of Thrones TV adaptation has already started to outpace the novels.
Here are 10 things likely to happen before Martin's long overdue book Winds of Winter hits stores:1) Blue Ivy drops an album. The five-year-old heiress to Beyoncé and Jay-Z already has a freestyle on her father's latest project.
2) Donald Trump goes to war with North Korea. To be fair, this may happen by dinner time.
3) George RR Martin dies. The man is 68 and not exactly a paragon of fitness. Touch wood it does not happen but Father Time is undefeated and prone to bouts of pettiness.
4) South Africa elects a new president. Martin has teased fans with rumours that he is almost done for years now. President Jacob Zuma's term is almost done as well. One of these things has a fixed date.
5) Russia will host a football World Cup. We are less than a year away from this. I wonder if Trump will attend?
6) Orlando Pirates will return to their winning ways.
7) Black Panther will be released in cinemas and a whole new Star Wars trilogy will be announced.
8) A new study will confirm that bread is either a leading cause of cancer or that the old study was wrong and it is in fact extremely healthy to eat when bought from expensive bakeries.
9) Doc MacStuffins will begin her studies at Harvard Medical School as the youngest student it has ever had. #blackexcellence.
10) Her Majesty Queen Lizzy will finally give her son Charles a chance to be king...
