Muscat, Oman, once a central trading route in "ancient Arabia", is rich in off-the-beaten-track adventures.

Consulting my friend Google, I discovered The Persian Steps, a pathway of steps allegedly constructed by the Persian army, near the town of Izki, about 100km from Muscat. With vague directions, we set off to climb them. Taking a wrong turn, we discovered the ruins of a small village, giving us a photographic interlude...
