When Makhadzi looks back on 2022, she has a lot of things to be grateful for.

Her star is no longer rising, it has risen and we take you on a trip down memory lane to detail her roller coaster year.

One-woman show in Botswana

The Limpopo-born musician had her first one-woman show in Botswana in March.

It left her fans raving about her and how she gave people what they wanted. Her star power and stage presence are what she is loved for, and her fans couldn't help but stan a queen.

Mavoda lotion

The Kulakwe hit maker entered the beauty market this year.

Makhadzi told TshisaLIVE her cosmetic range, under the moniker Mavoda, would consist of body lotion, petroleum jelly and lip gloss.

“Mavoda is a lotion suitable for the whole family with mango extract, vitamin E and sweet almond oil. Contains ingredients that cause deep hydration, smoothen and soften the skin for more than 24-hours after application. The skin has a lather touch. Suitable for normal and dry skin,” she said.

EP Pain ya jealousy reaches gold status

Makhadzi said her EP Pain ya jealousy reaching gold was a humbling experience.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE she said she is in disbelief about her success which happened quickly.

“Reaching gold status is truly humbling. I knew I’d always be successful in the music industrym however I never thought it would come so soon . I still pinch myself sometimes because it feels like a dream.”

DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards

Makhadzi walked away with the Favourite Music Artist or Group and Song of the Year awards for her hit song Ghanama featuring Prince Benza.

“Two years ago I asked and begged to perform at the DstvMVCAs for free. That was my chance for SA to at least know there is a girl called Makhadzi. Jikijiki, here I am collecting awards. I cannot thank my fans enough for this and next month I have a tour in [the] UK”, she wrote on Instagram.

First international tour

Makhadzi had her first international performances in Canada and the United Kingdom.

She said the love and support she received overseas was no different from home.

“All I can say is when it comes to Makhadzi there was no difference, I believe everyone who loved me from day one and my supporters overseas and everywher, they love Makhadzi for who she is, and what she does. So I make sure t I performed in all sorts. I did everything that is Makhadzi."

Samas performance

Viewers were complaining about the sound from the start of the awards show and were looking forward to her performance, only to be shocked when it was cut short.

In a Twitter thread she explained what happened before she went up on stage.

“The problem started when I declined their choreography because I always want to perform with my own dancers. But the most important thing is how can you let me rehearse for five minutes when others were given unlimited time,” tweeted Makhadzi.

One-woman show in Limpopo

The concert took place in October at Makhuvha Stadium in Thohoyandou.

“I’m humbled and very excited to be hosting a show in my home town. It’s always been one of my goals to do so and give my people back home a show they will always remember.

“The process was a lot easier compared to my previous experiences. Having that one-woman show at my home town was motivation enough and I want to make sure I deliver and give my people a show they deserve,” she shared with TshisaLIVE

Instagram feud with Inno

While on her international tour which started in Canada, Makhadzi ended up on Instagram Live on a rampage against a troll who came for her.

While Makhadzi didn't name names, her fans figured out that the “troll” she was addressing was reality TV star and club host Inno Morolong.

This after the club host went to Makhadzi's DMs and accused her of owing people money. Inno, the Matorikisi hit maker,  allegedly body shamed her and hurled other insults at her.
