'The pain of losing my mother never got better' — Vuyo Ngcukana on grief
Seasoned actor Vuyo Ngcukana has reflected on more than two decades of mourning the loss of his mother.
He took to his Insta timeline and penned a heartfelt note: “Many years ago on this day my best friend, my cheerleader and my rock became my angel, the pain of losing my mother never got better, I had to get stronger, I'm grateful for the time we had together and for the lessons I would later use in life to become the person I am today.”
In 2020 Vuyo shared an emotional tweet opening up about the loss of her mom: “Today marks 21 years since I lost my best friend, my cheerleader, comforter, the epitome of love, generosity and kindness. I carry everything she was in my heart, I love and miss you every day Mama.
“It is the first time in 21 years I could fully function in the month of May, especially on this day, there were difficult moments in the day, but I managed quite well, thank you for the kind messages.”
Media personality and actor Siv Ngesi has also opened up about the loss of his mother, Ntombizanele Jacqueline Ngesi, on August 11 while gearing up for the release of The Woman King.
“I was raised by a woman king, I dedicate every single moment in this film to my mother for the incredible work she did and the lives she changed. My mother did not fight with a sword, she didn't have a shield, she wasn't the fittest person in the world but her heart was bigger than any human in the world,” he told TshisaLIVE.
“It's been an interesting experience to be able to mourn my mother while celebrating this incredible life-changing film.”
