Here's a peek at the top stories that made headlines this week:

Mphowabadimo to show her vocal skills

In addition to being a social media influencer and reality TV star, Mphowabadimo has added singing to her growing resume.

Taking to her social media pages on Monday, the Big Brother Mzansi season 3 winner announced she was gearing up to release her first single Bonga in November.

Manaka Ranaka and Zodwa engage in a “boxing bout” — if that's what you want to call it

Infinity International Boxing's exhibition fight between Zodwa Wabantu and Manaka Ranaka had the stars discover new respect for each other for having the guts to get into the ring.

They engaged in a bout dedicated to celebrating women in boxing at The Ridge Casino, Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, on Sunday, which saw the judges decide on a draw after three rounds.

Celebs react to Boks victory

When the semifinal's final whistle blew we breathed a collective sigh of relief and South Africans and celebs did not hold back with the celebrations for the Springboks' victory.

South Africa's 16-15 victory over England in Paris on Saturday  was widely celebrated and the Boks have booked a spot in the Rugby World Cup final against the All Blacks.

What's really going on with this year's Samas?

The South African Music Awards (Samas) may have lost their biggest contribution promised by the KwaZulu-Natal government, but the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) says it will regroup and continue.

On Wednesday, the KZN economic development, tourism and environmental affairs department (Edtea) pulled the plug on its controversial R20m sponsorship of the Samas.

Edtea had applied to the provincial treasury for an administrative transfer of funds from parts of the budget to allow it to raise initially R28m, but later R20m, to host the awards.

RiSA communications manager and Samas spokesperson  Lesley Mofokeng told TshisaLIVE they still want to honour artists.

“We can't say whether the Samas are cancelled or what. We don't know. This is our initial reaction from what we saw on TV. As the Samas, we are still going to regroup and find a way to make sure we honour our artists regardless of what happened on Wednesday.”
