Design is in the air: KLM interior gets classy makeover

From seats to cutlery, the oldest airline just got a serious aesthetic upgrade

Founded in 1919, KLM is the world's first - and oldest - airline. In fact, the airline is first in many ways. The recent redesign of the KLM World Business Class seats and cabin, in collaboration with Dutch design icon Hella Jongerius, is another sign of the company's strength in innovation.
There is also a strong focus on durability and innovation throughout the cabin's design. Its new seats are spacious and comfortable and, when it comes to sleep time, can fully recline into a bed that is more than 2m long.
Passengers on Boeing 747-400s and Boeing 777s have personal access to a 17-inch state-of-the-art interactive entertainment system, aimed at ensuring they feel at home.New tableware by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders includes a selection of beautiful engraved utensils, detailed Delft porcelain and sophisticated glassware, all of which reflect a modern Dutch aesthetic - and add an element of luxury.
Special attention has been paid to the overall dining experience with the introduction of new menu options created by young and upcoming European chefs and a complementary wine list selected by renowned sommeliers.
To complete the experience, KLM has commissioned design duo Viktor & Rolf to design amenity kits containing uniquely crafted essentials for passengers' comfort...
