The bail application for three police officers accused of murdering Khulekani Mpanza in Krugersdorp two weeks ago has been postponed.

Constables Titus Mabela, Jason Segole and Sergeant Puleng Sebetwa appeared in the Krugersdorp magistrates court on Tuesday on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.

They will appear in court next Tuesday.

Their fourth co-accused, Constable Dipuo Chipu, who appeared on a charge of defeating the ends of justice, got R5000 bail and will be back in court on December 2.

Mpanza allegedly planned to rob a store in Krugersdorp, and fired eight shots at police who were in the vicinity after receiving a tip off. The subsequent shooting was caught on CCTV camera.

In the footage, Mpanza is seen falling to the ground after being shot in the arm. His firearm out of reach, one of the officers is then seen firing two more shots at the suspect.

Mpanza died on the scene.

All four accused covered their faces as the charges against them were read into record and looked down at the floor during their brief appearance on Tuesday.

A second video later emerged allegedly showing the moment Mpanza first engaged with police. In the footage the man appears to exchange gunfire with the officers before running down the street.
